Dianne Bennett
has been called LA’s best matchmaker and has been
operating nationwide since 1990. She apparently
maintains a roster of more than 1000 beautiful women
(many of which are former or current Playboy
models). She does freelance work for Playboy
magazine and actually finds centerfold girls for
them. They are categorized as “blonde, brunette or
exotic”. They are between the ages of 20-35 and must
be slim and look like top models and movie stars.
Dianne spent
decades as the syndicated recording industry
columnist for the Hollywood Reporter. Dianne
specializes in beautiful women and successful men.
She is a former meter maid who turned to matchmaking
15 years ago.
Her specialty is
bringing together single male millionaires and
beautiful women. Most of her clients (about 50/year)
are men aged 30-45.
She is very well
“plugged into” the Hollywood and entertainment
industry scene in LA, and is a judge at beauty
pageants. She also attends modeling agency parties.
She also finds her girls by attending parties around
LA, eating out a lot and frequenting gyms and health
food stores to spot potential candidates. Dianne
basically works with well to do men who are seeking
marriage or
dates. Many of these men are rich but shy, uptight
and stuffy and apparently have trouble attracting
beautiful women or maintaining intimate
friendships.
How the Service
Works
All you do is
call
310-490-9913 and arrange an appointment to meet
with Matchmaker Dianne Bennett. You will select your
favorite photos of gorgeous girls. Dianne prefers to
interview her clients in person to find out their
needs.
The women in her
stable pay nothing for membership (they can’t afford
it). She’s catering to the needs of about 50 men,
mostly between the ages of 35-55, who pay Bennett
anywhere from $5,000 to $100,000 to find them a
wife. Ms. Bennett thoroughly investigates these
successful men, studying their moral fiber, learning
their goals, analyzing their careers, verifying
their salaries, holdings, everything.
Dianne is paid a
fee by an entrepreneur, or perhaps, film star, and
who is guaranteed by her, to receive this for his
investment: a lunch meeting with at least 5
spectacular and equally researched beauties, also
contracted with her. The choices that these men and
women make are predicated on their review of the
profiles-with-photos that she presents them. When
and after the lady has had the opportunity to review
the gentleman’s career profile and picture, she asks
her permission to give her number to the gentleman.
Marketdata/BestDietForMe
analysts interviewed Dianne to get her opinions on
the status of matchmaking. Her comments were
insightful, especially regarding the market in Los
Angeles. She says that to make it in LA you
absolutely have to be connected to the entertainment
industry and Hollywood. She gets very few clients
via her website/the Internet, and is not very
technology oriented. But, she recognizes that she
need to be and will be increasing her efforts in
this area.
Dianne runs print
ads in LA Magazine and the Yellow Pages, but ad
prices have been going up lately. She claims there
are few places to advertise in LA for her clients.
She does deal with clients outside LA, since
successful men are willing to travel to her or pay
her to fly to them. She does NOT perform any
background checks, leaving it to the client to do
that on her own. She trusts more in her contacts to
give her the background information she needs
She sees more
matchmakers coming into the business, but they don’t
last long, especially in LA. It’s expensive to live
and advertise there and most ads only run 1-3 times
before stopping. She estimates that the “typical”
matchmaker only makes $30,000 per year and that it
takes five years to really get going and become
successful. You also have to be in the right city
(such as: New York, LA, Beverly Hills, Dallas,
Houston, Silicon Valley, Washington DC, or
Chicago)—basically the areas populated by wealthy
men in male-dominated businesses.
Dianne does have
a small staff, but she does all the major work related to
interviewing clients and the hand-holding that’s
required to produce matches. She claims that 50% of
her clients are looking for marriage, 50% not. She
estimates that it takes about 20 matches or dates to
satisfy a client.
