Diet-To-Go is a service that provides freshly prepared, convenient and nutritionally balanced meals. It has been in business for 14 years. Headquartered in Lorton, VA. meals are available for pick up in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area, as well as the San Francisco area. Meals are available for home delivery throughout the United States.  All the meals are low in fat, low in sodium and low in cholesterol. The food is prepared by the company's chef, and adheres to the dietary guidelines of the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the American Diabetes Association. The company has a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist on staff. She is available for diet-related questions by email to customers of Diet-To-Go.  

There are 4 weeks of different menus that offer excellent variety. There are several meal plan options to chose from, including low fat, and vegetarian options. Each offers the option of a 1200 or 1600 calorie per day meal plan. A low carbohydrate plan is also available. Based on whether you are trying to lose weight, eat healthier or achieve another objective, the counselors will recommend the appropriate meal plan for you. Many flexible options are available.

Food substitutions are available for a small fee. You may also double up on your favorite meals that are available during a particular pickup. 

The company claims that, on average, most customers lose from 2 to 3 pounds per week while on the full meal plan. 

The price of your plan depends on a number of factors, including the number of meals per day, the portion sizes, whether or not you include snacks, how long you wish to commit, how many people in your house or office orders, etc. For reference, the average customer spends about $60 - $75 per week. The company allows you to earn $20 for each friend you refer who orders the Diet-to-Go plan.  You can also register for a free online weight loss diary.

The meals are packed in dry ice, and shipped in a Styrofoam cooler. If you live east of the Mississippi, your meals will be shipped from the Northern Virginia facility. If you live west of the Mississippi, including Alaska and Hawaii, your meals will be shipped from the firm's partners in California. Fresh meals may also be picked up in the Washington, DC and San Francisco areas.

Twice a  week, Tuesday and Friday,  Diet-to-Go prepares your order fresh at its commercial kitchen in Virginia. They then deliver the orders to their Distributors in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC. Your order will be delivered to the distributor that is most convenient for you, and will arrive just hours prior to your arrival to ensure maximum freshness.
