According to a new survey of 1,000
people, when it comes to craving comfort foods, research shows that
women prefer snack-related comfort foods, while men prefer more
meal-related comfort foods
Americans' top 10 favorite comfort foods are:
potato chips (23%)
ice cream (14%)
cookies (12%)
chocolate (11%)
pizza or pasta (11%)
steak/burgers (9%)
casseroles (9%)
soup (7%)
vegetables (4%)
salad (4%)
Women are more likely to prefer foods such as candy and chocolates,
while men prefer items such as pizza, pasta, steak or casseroles.
Regardless of what they ate, women tend to feel less healthy and
guiltier than men about their comfort food choices.
Researchers speculate that these differences may relate to the
notion that the upbringing of men may have conditioned them to
prefer hot or labor-intensive meals, while women seek convenient
comfort foods requiring less preparation.
