The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution

(Dr. Phil McGraw)

<< Prev Review | Next Review >>

In his book, The Ultimate Weight Solution: The 7 Keys to Weight Loss Freedom, Dr. Phil McGraw claims to change the way you behave and think about food, weight loss, and yourself. The book does not offer weight loss quick fixes, and his action plan is designed to give you results to last over the long term.

The Dr. Phil diet plan does not involve counting calories or tracking carbohydrates or fat. Among all diet books, this one aims to get at the real reasons why you've lost control of your weight, with tools to identify what to eat, when to eat, how to eat, and why you eat when you don't want to--heavy on psychology.

While most diet bestsellers focus mainly on nutrition, meal planning, and specific recipes, the Dr. Phil books focus mostly on the psychology of overeating. This is what makes it stand out. You won’t find any recipes in his book, unlike 99% of the other diet books being sold.

Dr. Phil’s visibility on TV gave his diet program strong ongoing exposure and publicity, which in the short term made it somewhat successful. However, the foray into dietary supplements proved to be fatal, landing him in legal trouble. In addition, the cost of the plan was expensive and did not produce desired results.

Dr. Phil is still a newcomer to the weight loss field. BestDietForMe.com analysts also wonder how many of the patients Dr. Phil counseled over his career were counseled specifically for weight management issues. If someone wants to buy his book, it may be helpful in addressing psychological issues related to weight management, but that's ALL we'd do. We think Dr. Phil should stick to what he knows best--dispensing psych advice, not selling weight loss PRODUCTS.
